38th International Blues Challenge Apostoli Floyd and Alfonso Velasco

In October 2, 2022, Apostoli Floyd and Alfonso Velasco achieved a significant milestone by winning the regional victory of the International Blues Challenge (IBC) for the South Florida Blues Society. This win solidified his position as a rising star in the blues community and gave him the opportunity to perform at the IBC semi-finals in Memphis, Tennessee.

The 38th International Blues Challenge is a prestigious event that brings together some of the best blues musicians from around the world. We are proud to announce that Apostoli Floyd and Alfonso Velasco will be competing as a Solo Duo against talented musicians from all over the world. 

The International Blues Challenge (IBC) is an annual event held on the famous Beale Street in Memphis, TN. The event is organized by the Blues Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to promote and preserve the blues genre. The IBC is considered the largest and most respected blues music event in the world, with more than 250 acts competing in various categories. 

Apostoli Floyd and Alfonso Velasco will be competing in the Solo/Duo category. They will be showcasing their unique blend of down-home and urban blues, with a performance that is sure to delight the audience. The duo's music is a reflection of their passion for the blues and their mission to keep the genre alive. 

The competition will be held over a period of four days, and the winners will be selected by a panel of industry experts. The event will also feature a variety of other performances, including youth showcase, band showcase, and the legendary "Beale Street All-Stars" showcase.

The International Blues Challenge 2023

IBC will be held January 24-28, 2023 on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee! 

The International Blues Challenge represents the worldwide search for blues bands and solo/duo blues performers ready for the international stage, yet just needing that extra big break. The world’s largest gathering of blues musicians will take place on Beale Street, with over 20 clubs hosting the challengers and fans. In addition to featuring these final rounds of the prestigious blues music competition, the IBC event week will offer seminars, showcases, master classes, film screenings, networking events, book signings, and receptions for blues societies, fans, and professionals.
